The first European hydraulic loader. It was available with fittings to suit Nuffield or Fordson Major tractors. In 1952 the JCB Major Loader was adapted to fit the New Fordson Major.

Initially costing £110 each, the Major Loader was marketed for industrial, construction and forestry work, as well as for agricultural purposes, and was sold in kit form for mounting on a tractor.

In 1953, JCB introduced the Si-draulic Loader, which was mounted on the side of a tractor and provided superior lift and forward reach, and went on to sell more than 6,000 units, at £75 each.

JCB Si-Draulic was a single-arm loader unit with high lift and forward reach, designed to bolt onto Ferguson, Fordson Major, Nuffield and David Brown tractors. It was marketed as the "simplest ever" and could be detached in just ten minutes.

The first machine to feature the JCB logo. To save time in the loading cycle, the bucket was designed to travel over the top of the driver and dump material at the rear.
